The Cape and Islands Partnership for Nonprofit Advancement

The Cape and Islands Partnership for Nonprofit Advancement is a regional collaborative whose mission is to leverage resources to effectively coordinate and expand training and educational opportunities for Cape Cod and the Islands in order to support the health and vitality of the nonprofit sector.

History
In the fall of 2015, the Partnership created a survey to gather data to help ensure that our area nonprofits have local, robust training and professional development opportunities.  The survey yielded 405 responses from nonprofit staff, Board members, and volunteers, and will inform current and future programming. A diverse group of respondents participated in the survey, with broad representation of organizational size, age, and geographic representation.

The key findings of the survey revealed top four training needs: Fundraising, Nonprofit Management, Executive/Leadership Training and Organizational Strategy. No matter the size of the organization, senior staff and Board members agreed on these rankings.  Click here to view a summary of the survey data.

Moving Forward
The Partnership has enhanced coordination of sharing educational opportunities and increased collaboration on existing programming. In addition, they have initiated new programming, specifically around leadership development, to address some of the gaps that were identified. Current initiatives include:

  • Coordinating a regional training calendar to more effectively share local educational and training opportunities for nonprofits in one central location
  • Establishing collaborative programming and co-sponsoring events and workshops
  • Funding the Institute for Nonprofit Practice to launch its award-winning certificate program on Cape Cod. Eight local funders have underwritten the costs of the Institute’s Core Certificate Program focused on nonprofit leadership development.
