Cape Cod Foundation Awards Five Surprise Grants

YARMOUTHPORT – The Cape Cod Foundation has announced the five local nonprofit organizations that received surprise grants throughout 2014 in honor of the Foundation’s 25th anniversary.

Due to a generous unrestricted bequest that The Cape Cod Foundation received in 2013, the organization was able to grant five, $5,000 unrestricted grants to local nonprofit organizations in one of each of the following areas: Child and Youth Wellness; Environment; Arts and Culture; Health and Human Services; and Housing and Homelessness. The recipients were announced throughout 2014, as part of the Foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration.

The grantees are:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands-Child and Youth Wellness
  • The Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts-Environment
  • Cultural Center of Cape Cod-Arts and Culture
  • Independence House-Health and Human Services
  • CHAMP Homes-Housing and Homelessness

“What a better way to celebrate our 25 years as part of this community than to distribute grants to five amazing local organizations. We are honored to partner with many of the nonprofit organizations on Cape Cod that work tirelessly day after day to make Cape Cod the best place in the world to live! We are committed to continuing to grow our grantmaking resources to expand our support of local organizations to help increase their impact,” stated Foundation Board Chair and President Eileen Miskell.

In addition to the surprise grants made for the 25th anniversary, the Foundation also awarded a $25,000 multi-year scholarship to a local student, due to the generosity of two anonymous donors. That scholarship was awarded last spring to Matthew Cook of Harwich, who is in his first year at Wheaton College in Norton, MA.
