The Cape Cod Foundation Names New President and CEO

Henry Holden, Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Cape Cod Foundation, has announced the promotion of Kristin O’Malley to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer. O’Malley has worked for the Foundation since 2004 and has served as its’ Executive Director since January 2013.

“The Foundation has made great strides in the last few years due to shared vision and action at all levels of the organization.  The Board recognizes Kristin’s efforts to support and lead our strategic vision, and we feel the change in title more clearly reflects her role inside and outside the organization. We are confident that, through our partnerships with donors, nonprofit organizations, and the community, the Foundation will continue to maximize its impact for many years to come,” stated Mr. Holden.

A Cape Cod native born and raised in Dennis, O’Malley received her undergraduate degree from Middlebury College and her MBA in Nonprofit Management from Suffolk University. Kristin gained experience in nonprofit development early in her career before joining The Cape Cod Foundation team in 2004. Throughout her tenure at the Foundation, she has worked in areas including grantmaking, fund development and stewardship, community initiatives, and networking with regional nonprofits. In 2012, O’Malley was named one of Cape & Plymouth Business Magazine’s “40 Under 40” leaders.  She has been involved with numerous community initiatives, and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Philanthropy Partners of the Cape and Islands, a judge for Massachusetts Nonprofit Network’s Excellence Awards, a trustee of the Joshua A. Nickerson Society, a member of the Middlebury College Alumni Admissions Program, a volunteer with St. Pius X School, and a member of Cape Cod Healthcare’s Patient and Family Advisory Council.

As a community foundation, The Cape Cod Foundation acts as a local vehicle for linking community resources with community needs by building a pool of funds, investing them as an endowment for the community, and distributing income from the funds to nonprofit organizations and educational institutions.  The Foundation currently manages more than 300 individual funds, no two of which are exactly alike in their purpose, totaling over $51 million in assets. Since its inception in 1989, the Foundation has invested nearly $60 million back into the community in the form of grants and scholarships to support all that is good about Cape Cod. The Foundation also prides itself on being engrained in the community and serving as a leader, convener, and facilitator around key community issues.
