THE CCYP GIVING CIRCLE AWARDS A TOTAL OF $10,000 TO FIVE LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

The Cape Cod Young Professionals (CCYP) Giving Circle fund of The Cape Cod Foundation has awarded a total of $10,000 to five nonprofit organizations with projects and programs that advance the lives of young professionals on Cape Cod.

This is the Giving Circle’s second year of grantmaking. The philanthropic initiative, launched in 2015 in partnership with The Cape Cod Foundation, supports local organizations and programs working to help young professionals on Cape Cod shape a vibrant, healthy Cape community. The CCYP Giving Circle Fund enables its members to collectively award grants and assume an active role in funding “Shape the Cape” initiatives. Following its 2014 “Shape the Cape” survey, the organization identified specific action items for funding consideration: career & professional development, accessible housing, civic engagement and children & youth.

The 2017 grant recipients are:

Cape Cod Child Development, $1500, to support training and mentoring for Family Child Care Providers. The Family Child Care Program engages licensed child care workers to provide high-quality child care in their homes for lower-income working families across Cape Cod.

Cape Cod Children’s Place, $2,500, to subsidize the cost of early education and care for children of working families who are on the long waiting list for State vouchers or fall just outside the income qualifications.

Community Development Partnership, $2,500, to support the new Community Housing Partnership, a comprehensive community-based strategy to build municipal capacity & public support for affordable housing.

Housing Assistance Corporation, $1,500, to offset the cost of free Consumer Education Center classes for participants: Creating a Budget, Rebuilding Your Credit, and Community Resources.

WE CAN, $2,000, to support Year 2 of the GROW (Get Results with Others Wisdom) Group, a professionally-lead learning and sharing experience for 6-8 women who are working to strengthen or expand their business.

“Partnering with people who are passionate about Cape Cod and want to support local organizations is inspiring,” said Dara Gannon, The Cape Cod Foundation’s Program Officer. “The CCYP’s Giving Circle model demonstrates the powerful impact a group of people can have when they come together.”

“Our circle has grown to over 100 community members, and together we invite anyone to join the CCYP Giving Circle movement,” shares Matt Cronin, the Board President of CCYP. “We have invested $20,000 in key programs run by dynamic local nonprofits that are central to the mission of CCYP and the future of Cape Cod. Together we share a vision, and make a collective impact.”

Giving Circle members make monthly donations of $10, $20, or $50. Members have the option of attending civic learning sessions to review proposed projects and discuss community needs, then decide together how to direct a portion of the funds raised each year to causes they care about. Anyone is invited to join or contribute to the CCYP Giving Circle Fund at capecodfoundation.org or by calling 508.790.3040.
