GALE Fund Announces 2015 Grantees

YARMOUTHPORT – The GALE (Gay and Lesbian Equity) Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation, which supports our region’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) community, has announced the fund’s 2015 grantees, which will receive a total of $12,850 for their work supporting LGBTQ issues. The public is invited to attend a reception honoring the grant recipients, scheduled on June 10th from 4:30PM to 6:30PM at the Harwich Junior Theater.

“The GALE Fund is so very pleased to be a conduit of support for a wide range of groups and creative endeavors in the LGBTQ community,” said Richard Johnson, chair of the GALE Fund Grants Committee. “The work we are able to support with the community’s help is positive acknowledgement of the extraordinary work toward diversity and healthy, strong communities on Cape Cod.”

Since the GALE Fund’s inception in 1998, it has raised and disbursed more than $260,000 to local organizations to support programs that improve the lives of LGBTQ individuals and their families. Over the past few years, through its “Fund a Need” program at its annual fundraising event, the fund has been able to raise additional dollars to support LGBTQ resource libraries in the public schools, promote programs and services for the transgender community, and to provide funding for organizations addressing the needs of LGBTQ elders.

The Cape Cod Foundation is a community foundation whose mission is to build permanent charitable resources for community betterment through informed grantmaking and civic leadership. The Foundation has distributed more than $52 million in grants and scholarships since its inception in 1989. For more information, visit www.capecodfoundation.org or call (508) 790-3040.
