Helping Our Women Creates Fund with The Cape Cod Foundation

Helping Our Women (HOW), a nonprofit organization that provides supportive services to women with serious medical conditions, recently created an agency fund with The Cape Cod Foundation.

“This fund represents the 25 year legacy of our committed donor community and the many women we have served during that period,” said Gwynne Guzzeau, HOW’s Executive Director. “It will help us build and sustain our resources, so we can meet the current and future needs of women living on the Outer Cape with chronic or serious health conditions.”

“Being part of The Cape Foundation has many benefits for nonprofits,” said Foundation President and CEO Kristin O’Malley.  “Because our investment professionals are pooling resources from more than 300 funds, we can offer a more diverse spectrum of options and potentially higher returns on those investments.  Our team also handles all of the administrative details and tax reporting, allowing organizations like HOW to focus on their true missions.”

HOW was established in 1992 by a few friends who wanted to support another friend who had just received a cancer diagnosis.  In response to the lack of services available, they incorporated, acquired a nonprofit status, and formed Helping Our Women to expand their support to other women who have been diagnosed with chronic, life threatening, or disabling illnesses.

Today, the organization provides transportation, financial assistance, support groups, and special programs to women from the towns of Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown. HOW also maintains a food and personal care pantry for clients and offers referral and advocacy services to all community members.

Donors can now direct gifts to the Helping Our Women Fund by contacting Gwynne Guzzeau, Executive Director, 508-237-8914, Gwynne@helpingourwomen.org
