We set out to create an organization that would unite the residents of Barnstable County and broaden their perspective on the needs of all of Cape Cod , not just their individual towns. What we got is an invaluable organization that can quickly work miracles by identifying and funding unmet community needs and providing the means for regular folks to create a legacy. We established an unrestricted fund with the Foundation so that the staff and board are able to move in whatever direction the needs of the future require.

Murray Rust, a founder of The Cape Cod Foundation, and his wife Elinor

After a lot of research into our options, we chose The Cape Cod Foundation as the vehicle to manage our charitable dollars because they are professional, local, reasonable, flexible and responsive. We want to be involved in designating where grants are made with our money but frankly don't have the time to run our own foundation so this is the perfect match for us - the staff and board focus on the administrative details and management so that we can spend our time in the community.

Bill and Linda Zammer, owners of Coonamessett Inn, Falmouth

As the focus of our lives has shifted from suburban Boston to Cape Cod so has the focus of our charitable activities and contributions. In addition to our own donor-advised fund, we chose to be a Community Partner because we know it takes the availability of unrestricted dollars to enable the Foundation to continue their work – addressing local issues and making an impact in our community. The Foundation’s conservative investment policies have allowed us to make more contributions than if we had been managing those assets ourselves.

Steve and Barbara Anthony, Wellfleet
