Applying for Grants

The Foundation's grantmaking process is one step in a cycle of philanthropy that exists to assist and complement the work of charitable organizations on Cape Cod. In 2008, the Foundation awarded more than $5 million in grants and scholarships.  Since 1989, the Foundation has distributed over $35 million back into the community.

Grant information and application guidelines are available below or by calling the Foundation office at 1-800-947-2322. Please note the changes to the Community Impact Grants Program.  If your browser cannot view these documents, please visit Adobe's website and download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Community Impact Grants Program

The Cape Cod Foundation has made changes to its discretionary grants program. Starting in January 2009, the program will be divided into two parts: General Grants and Strategic Focus Grants.  General Grants are requests under $5,000 and will be accepted throughout the year. Strategic Focus Grants are requests of $5,000 or more and will have a once-a-year deadline of October 1. Please carefully review the Community Impact Grants Program Information and Guidelines and Application Cover Sheet for further detailed information.

Funds for Community Impact Grants come from two sources at the Foundation: unrestricted funds; and field of interest funds. Field of interest funds are earmarked for grantmaking to support certain causes and types of programs. You do NOT have to apply for any specific fund; any application through the Community Impact Grant Program will be considered with these funds in mind. However, if you are interested in learning what earmarked funds the Foundation currently has for grantmaking, please click here.

The Falmouth Fund of the Cape Cod Foundation
Recently, the Cape Cod Foundation created the Falmouth Fund, with a local advisory board, charged with the goal of developing a permanent endowment fund to help nonprofit organizations respond to the existing and emerging needs of Falmouth.
