Nine Area Funders Partner to Strengthen Local Nonprofit Sector through Leadership Development Program

On October 11, the Institute for Nonprofit Practice (INP) will launch Year 2 of its award-winning core certificate program on Cape Cod through a unique funder collaborative. Nine funders, dedicated to strengthening the local nonprofit sector, have underwritten the costs of INP’s nonprofit leadership development program, currently offered in Greater Boston, the Merrimack Valley, and Rhode Island. The program is affiliated with Tufts University’s Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life.

The participating funders for Year 2 are:

Bilezikian Family Foundation
The Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation
The Cape Cod Foundation
Cape and Islands United Way
Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation
Cape Cod Healthcare Community Benefits
Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation
Edward Bangs Kelley and Elza Kelley Foundation
Arts Foundation of Cape Cod

Cape Cod Foundation President and CEO Kristin O’Malley says “Last year’s pilot program on the Cape was extremely successful. We are grateful that the Institute for Nonprofit Practice is continuing to offer the program here and that the funders are continuing to support this vital initiative. Our nonprofit leaders work to develop strategic solutions to our community’s greatest challenges, and this program strengthens the leadership and management skills they need to expand their impact and affect change within their organizations and throughout the community.”

Yolanda Coentro, the Institute’s President and CEO says, “These funders are making a bold and positive commitment to the Cape community. The Institute’s program is a transformative experience for nonprofit leaders.  It also opens doors for more meaningful collaborations, something that can have far-reaching impact for the community.”

The 16 alumni from the first Cape Cod and Islands cohort continue to meet and build on the momentum they gained together last year and have committed to supporting this year’s incoming class.

The new group consists of 16 leaders and managers from a diverse group of nonprofit organizations across the Cape. The participants are:
