Rogers & Gray Charitable Foundation Fund Awards $12,000

The Rogers & Gray Charitable Foundation Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation announced $12,000 in grants awarded in 2014, bringing the total grant awards from the fund to over $46,000.  Rogers & Gray Insurance Agency established the fund in 2006 to celebrate its 100th anniversary of serving the insurance needs of Cape Cod and Southeastern Massachusetts.

“The mission of the Rogers & Gray Charitable Foundation is to create a positive, long-lasting impact within the communities Rogers & Gray Insurance Agency serves,” said Lynn Mason-Small, Senior Vice President of Rogers & Gray Insurance and Chair of the grants committee.  “We are excited to continue growing and to assist organizations that are making a difference in our communities.”

The focus of grantmaking is to support projects and programs in Massachusetts that focus on knowledge, prevention, and intervention as they relate to physical safety and security.

2014 Rogers & Gray Charitable Foundation Fund Grants:

Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Support Center, $3,000
To create and deliver an Alzheimer’s-specific safety curriculum for caregivers that covers all three stages of the disease progression.

Cape Cod Child Development, $1,250
To purchase and install emergency safety lighting for the 83 Pearl Street Headquarters.

Cardinal Cushing Centers, $1,000
To support First Aid, CPR, AED and Safety Care training to all South Shore Industries (SSI) and Life Opportunity Unlimited program participants (LOU).

Health Imperatives, $2,250
To support Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) programs, specifically the School-Based Sexual Assault Awareness Project.

Katelynn’s Closet, $500
To purchase seasonally-appropriate clothing and footwear items for children in need.

Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless, $1,000
To support a series of five week, four-hour Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) classes to be taught by the Town of Kingston Police Department.

Southeast Regional Network, $1,500
To support South Shore Women’s Resource Center’s program focusing on women 55 and older in which SSWRC will provide individual and group advocacy, counseling and support for victims of domestic violence.

The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, $1,500
To support further development of the safety and emergency response program to enhance the safety and security of clients, volunteers and staff through an integrated program of communication hardware, information and training.

The Rogers & Gray Charitable Foundation Fund is a permanent endowment of The Cape Cod Foundation, a community foundation whose mission is to build permanent charitable resources for community betterment through informed grantmaking and civic leadership.
