Sixteen Nonprofit Leaders Graduate from Award-winning Program

Sixteen leaders from nonprofit organizations across the Cape and Islands recently graduated from the Institute for Nonprofit Practice’s award-winning Core Certificate Program.  The intensive, six-month management and leadership program provides nonprofit leaders the professional development experiences, tools, networks, and strategies they need to ensure organizational excellence and drive social change.

The following nonprofit executives (in alphabetical order) graduated from the program which is partnered with the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University: Anne Marie Bellavance, Nantucket Food Pantry; Courtney Bridges, Small Friends on Nantucket; Jay Coburn, Community Development Partnership; Barbara Cotton, Cape Cod Children’s Museum; Cindy Horgan, Cape Cod Children’s Place; Andria Jason, Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard; Fiona Jensen, Calmer Choice; David Kuehn, Cotuit Center for the Arts; JR Mell, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands; Christine Menard, The Family Pantry of Cape Cod; Barbara Milligan, Cape and Islands United Way; Kristin O’Malley, The Cape Cod Foundation; Anne Van Vleck, CCYP; Elizabeth H. Wade, CHAMP Homes, Inc.; Julie Wake, Arts Foundation of Cape Cod; Jessica Whritenour, The 300 Committee Land Trust.

The Cape Cod Foundation orchestrated a first-of-its-kind funder collaborative to bring this exemplary program to the area last Fall. Eight funders, who believe in strengthening the local nonprofit sector through education, joined forces to underwrite the cost: Bilezikian Family Foundation; The Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation; The Cape Cod Foundation; Cape and Islands United Way; Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation; Cape Cod Healthcare Community Benefits; Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation, and the Edward Bangs Kelley and Elza Kelley Foundation.

“This was a remarkable opportunity to empower nonprofit leaders in our community,” says Kristin O’Malley, President and CEO of The Cape Cod Foundation, who was among the inaugural class.  “While we each benefitted individually from the curriculum, we also became a stronger collective.  I predict incredible collaborations will emerge from this experience.”

The Cape Cod Foundation recently announced that the second INP class will begin this fall on Cape Cod, and 16 addition nonprofit leaders will have the opportunity to participate in this powerful training program.
