The Thomas C. McGowan Fund for Animals Announces Grant Opportunities

The Thomas C. McGowan Fund for Animals of The Cape Cod Foundation is now accepting proposals from nonprofit organizations for projects and programs benefitting domesticated animals and wildlife on Cape Cod and the Islands.  The application deadline is Friday, December 1.  The application process is entirely online at capecodfoundation.org.

The fund was established at the Foundation through a gift from the late Thomas C. McGowan, who was passionate about animals and wanted to ensure that there would be funds to support their protection and welfare long after his death. In establishing the fund, McGowan indicated a preference for initiatives that focused on medical treatment, spaying/neutering of domestic animals, the prevention of cruelty to animals, “no-kill” shelters, and education and awareness-building on related public issues.

Last year, the Fund awarded $39,500 to ten local organizations to support local spay/neuter programs, critical care clinics, and marine life rescue and rehabilitation. Since its inception in 2009, the Fund has awarded $228,067 in grants.
