COMMUNITY RESPONSE TO COVID-19

INITIAL IMMEDIATE INVESTMENTS
The Cape Cod Foundation has joined other local partners who are collaborating to support the community through the rapidly evolving coronavirus outbreak. We have made initial investments of $5,000 to the Cape Cod and Islands Major Crisis Relief Fund, a program of the Cape Cod Times Needy Fund, to support immediate individual needs as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. We have also invested $5,000 in Cape and Islands United Way for immediate support to nonprofit organizations whose clients are disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus and the economic consequences of this outbreak.

NEW CAPE COD FOUNDATION STRATEGIC EMERGENCY RESPONSE FUND
In addition, recognizing the need for a multi-pronged approach to this community crisis, and the role of a community foundation in providing both immediate and long-term flexible resources, The Cape Cod Foundation has allocated $100,000 in discretionary money to seed The Cape Cod Foundation Strategic Emergency Response Fund. It will provide funding to support the continued operation of vital Cape Cod nonprofit organizations as they address the evolving impacts of COVID-19 on the health, economy, and vitality of our community. The Strategic Emergency Response Fund compliments the efforts of those providing immediate aid and relief by providing needed operational support to local nonprofits during and after this challenging time.

WE WELCOME THE COMMUNITY IN SUPPORTING OUR EFFORTS

The Foundation is also exploring ways to work with existing grantees to repurpose funds and release the original restrictions on their grants, as many now will not be able to accomplish their original goals.

WE ALSO ENCOURAGE YOU TO SUPPORT OUR PARTNERS WHO ARE PROVIDING IMMEDIATE RELIEF

The Cape & Islands Major Crisis Relief Fund (MCRF) provides financial relief in the wake of a disaster. Established in 2016 by the Cape Cod Times Needy Fund, MCRF provides Cape Cod and Islands residents immediate and ongoing support for needs unmet by traditional forms of public and private disaster aid, in this case, caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Cape and Islands United Way Community Response Fund will go directly to local organizations working with communities who are disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus and the economic consequences of this outbreak.

We also encourage you to give directly to your favorite nonprofit organizations during this difficult time and to strongly consider general, unrestricted support.
