New Housing Legacy Fund Ensures Long-Term Community Strength Housing Assistance Corp and Cape Cod Foundation Team Up

The region’s leading provider of affordable housing and homelessness prevention services, Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC), and the region’s leading philanthropic services provider, The Cape Cod Foundation, have joined forces to establish the Housing Legacy Fund, which will ensure the security of safe and affordable housing on Cape Cod and the Islands.

“For more than 44 years, our neighbors in need have relied on Housing Assistance Corporation to help them secure a safe, stable place to live. The Housing Legacy Fund is a great way for donors to invest in the long-term sustainability of HAC and the future of affordable housing in the region,” said HAC CEO Alisa Magnotta Galazzi.

“When donors want to ensure that their contributions are well-managed and making an impact locally, they turn to The Cape Cod Foundation,” Magnotta Galazzi continued. “That’s why we were delighted when the Foundation agreed to establish and manage the Housing Legacy Fund with us.”

The Housing Legacy Fund is a new fund that will be managed by The Cape Cod Foundation in accordance with its high fiduciary standards. HAC will direct donations to the fund by donor request, and the funds will be invested by The Cape Cod Foundation to generate income to support the agency’s mission.

Each year, HAC serves more than 5,000 low- to moderate-income residents across Cape Cod and the Islands.  HAC programs and services focus on the areas of homelessness prevention, housing stabilization and consumer education & advocacy. In total, HAC has helped more than 170,000 people since its founding in 1974.

“I can’t think of anything more important for families to have than a safe, stable, and affordable home,” said Kristin O’Malley, President and CEO of The Cape Cod Foundation. “Over the years, the Foundation has prioritized initiatives that address the housing challenges in our region and done what we could to support them. We have partnered with Housing Assistance Corporation many times and are honored to be part of this new venture. We believe it will have a very positive impact in our community.”
