The Cape Cod Foundation: Promoting the Town Fund Model

Because the Town Fund model is an extremely effective way to promote local philanthropy throughout the region, the Foundation provides Town Funds with financial management and ongoing grantmaking, marketing, and administrative support to give them immediate and long-term visibility, credibility, functionality, and continuity and to help them grow.

Each of our Town Funds started as a grass roots movement. Each time, a few, caring people came together to help the nonprofit organizations in their town do good. For good. Some residents provided vision and leadership; others donated generously. Together they created a permanent endowment fund with The Cape Cod Foundation to build permanent resources for annual grantmaking.

Since they’ve been established, our Town Funds have collectively distributed more than $1,6551,300 in grants to local nonprofits serving their communities.
