Cape Cod Association Awards $440,000 in Scholarships to Local Students

The Cape Cod Association (CCA) recently awarded more than $440,000 in scholarships to 323 students from Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.

“This was a difficult year for the country and a difficult year for higher education,” said CCA President David W. Foster, Jr. “These highly motivated students stayed the course to pursue their goals, and the Cape Cod Association is proud to offer them financial assistance to begin or continue their higher education.”

The CCA’s mission is to help students who were born and reside on Cape Cod or the Islands achieve success in higher education. Graduating high school seniors and college students can receive scholarships for up to four years of undergraduate study at colleges and technical schools across the United States.

The organizations is one of the oldest and largest independent scholarship funds in New England. In 1851, a group of successful gentlemen who were living and working off Cape founded the organization for those with Cape Cod roots. Later, the group began offering tuition assistance to others.

The CCA is a supporting organization of The Cape Cod Foundation, which recently awarded more than $600,000 to 131 local students. Together, the organizations have exceeded $1 million in scholarship support to the region this year.
