Cape Cod Association Awards $552,000 in Scholarships to 309 Local Students

South Yarmouth – The Cape Cod Association recently awarded $552,000 in scholarships to 309 students from Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.

“This organization has been invested in the education and long-term success of young people for more than 170 years,” said CCA President David W. Foster, Jr. “This year, we’ve reached a major milestone by exceeding a half million dollars in scholarship support to another group of deserving achievers.”

Qualified students who were born and reside on Cape Cod or the Islands who have shown academic achievement are eligible to apply for these heritage-based scholarships. Graduating high school seniors and past recipient college students can receive awards for up to four years of undergraduate study at colleges and technical schools.

The Cape Cod Association is one of the oldest and largest independent scholarship funds in New England. In 1851, a small group of successful gentlemen who were living and working off Cape founded the Cape Cod Association to stay connected with others with Cape Cod roots. Years later, the group began offering tuition assistance to applicants attending colleges and universities outside of New England and throughout the United States.

The Cape Cod Association is a supporting organization of The Cape Cod Foundation, which recently awarded 191 scholarships totaling over $900,000 to local students. Together the organizations exceeded $1.46 million in scholarship support to the region.
