Create A Fund
Introduction
Establishing a charitable fund at The Cape Cod Foundation is an easy and convenient way to streamline and increase the impact of your Strategic Philanthropic Plan. Having a full suite of professional investment management and fund administration services brings time and cost efficiency to your plan. In addition, because we are a local organization with deep roots in the community, we can share up-to-date knowledge about challenges, initiatives, programs, and resources to inform and increase the impact of your plan. Because of our unique purview, we also bring objectivity to the philanthropic landscape.
We recommend scheduling a time to discuss your goals and intentions so that we can help you establish a fund that meets your charitable objections. We also encourage you to involve key family members when appropriate and seek the advice of trusted financial advisors and estate planners.
Establishing/Growing a Fund
Individuals, family members, nonprofit organizations, and corporations can establish a named fund at The Cape Cod Foundation with cash, securities, or other property. The process usually takes less time than it takes to open a bank account. Once established, you can grow your fund through many different strategies, including corporate giving matches, end-of-year-giving, private foundation transfers, memorial/honorary gifts, required minimum distributions, trust funds, stock or bonds, and real estate. Some options have tax and other financial advantages. In addition, some donors host fundraisers. (Foundation notification/approval is required.)
Types Of Funds
What type of fund you choose depends on your charitable goals and the level of involvement you desire. If you want to play a less active role, choose a fund which gives the Foundation the discretion to direct your resources toward immediate community needs or specific fields of interest, such as housing, health & human services, or youth development, among others. If you want to have an active role in your philanthropy, a donor-advised fund gives you the opportunity to make grant recommendations to any eligible nonprofit organization(s). MORE INFO
