Student Emergency Financial Relief Program

PURPOSE
To provide emergency financial assistance to students from Barnstable County who are enrolled in a postsecondary education program working toward a certificate, associate degree or bachelor’s degree, or advanced degree.

BACKGROUND
The Cape Cod Foundation launched this pilot program in partnership with the Cape Cod Times Neighbors Fund in 2025 to provide additional resources to students in the community beyond scholarship dollars. The fund provides emergency financial assistance to students from Barnstable County who are enrolled in a postsecondary education program who encounter urgent, unanticipated financial hardship, and need financial assistance for immediate needs—from food and housing to medical bills and transportation assistance. Students who are eligible for this program can also apply for scholarships and grants through The Cape Cod Foundation.

ELIGIBILITY
Individuals eligible to receive a grant from this fund must:

  • Be a resident of Barnstable County
  • Be enrolled in an accredited postsecondary education program working toward a certificate, associate, bachelor’s, or advanced degree
  • Have a demonstrated urgent or unanticipated financial hardship

GRANT AMOUNT
The average award amount is $500.

APPLICATION DEADLINE
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through the Cape Cod Time Neighbors Fund.
