The Fund for Sandwich Hosts Second Annual Grants Awards

The Fund for Sandwich of The Cape Cod Foundation will host its second annual grants award event on Sunday, November 4, at 4:00 pm in the newly-renovated Sand Hill School Community Center, 16 Dewey Avenue, Sandwich. Members of the community are welcome to attend.

The Fund will award $500 grants to five nonprofit organizations, identified through a competitive application process, that are serving the Sandwich community.

“This is our second year of grantmaking,” said Dr. Madeleine Wing Adler, a member of the Fund’s Advisory committee. “In response to the significant number of proposals received, we will once again award five grants to support the important work of these local organizations.”

Sandwich residents Paul Houlihan, Paula Johnson and Tom Rockwell are also members of the Advisory Committee.

The Fund for Sandwich, established in 2015, is one of three Town Funds of The Cape Cod Foundation. The Falmouth Fund and The Chatham Fund were established in 2009 and 2011, respectively.

“The goal of Town Funds is to build a permanent endowment through private donations which can then be invested back into the community through grants to nonprofit organizations,” said Kristin O’Malley, President and CEO of The Foundation.  “It’s a powerful way to help meet the community’s current needs and to plan for its future.”

The Fund’s Advisory Committee will continue to seek private donations to support the wide range of nonprofit organizations serving the Sandwich community and will conduct a third grantmaking process in 2019 to support additional organizations.
