The Fund for Sandwich Now Accepting Grant Proposals from Nonprofit Organizations Serving the Town

The Fund for Sandwich of The Cape Cod Foundation will make grants of up to $500 to nonprofit organizations serving residents of Sandwich. The grant application process is entirely online at capecodfoundation.org.  Proposals must be submitted by noon on Monday, October 2, 2017.  Grantees will be announced in November.

A group of residents established The Fund for Sandwich at the Foundation in 2015 to build a permanent endowment for the town through private donations and to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that improve and enhance the quality of life in the community.  This is the fund’s inaugural year of grant-making.

“For our first round, we are willing to consider a wide range of proposals,” said Madeleine Wing Adler, member of the Advisory Committee.

This includes projects and programs within the fields of health and human services, education, the environment, youth and elder services, community development and the arts.  Adler said the committee supports nonprofits that are responsive to community needs and opportunities, work in collaboration with others, think innovatively in their solutions and work strategically to enhance the quality of life in Sandwich.

“We are very fortunate to live in a town with a great history, beautiful land and marine environments, and a vibrant culture,” said Adler. “At the same time, some members of our community struggle to make ends meet and receive the services they need for themselves and their families.”  Adler said the Advisory Committee is especially interested in proposals that respond to the town’s neediest.

“Our goal is to mobilize our community and build our philanthropic resources so that we can meet the needs and challenges of Sandwich today–and in the future,” Adler said.

Anyone can make a tax-deductible donation to The Fund for Sandwich online at capecodfoundation.org or by calling 508.790.3040.

The Fund for Sandwich is one of three town funds affiliated with The Cape Cod Foundation. In 2016, The Falmouth Fund distributed nearly $80,000 in grants, while The Chatham Fund awarded $20,000 in grants to nonprofits serving the town.
