What We Invest In: Competitive Grant Programs

Our core grantmaking program focuses on nonprofit capacity-building. It is designed to support strong nonprofits that are at a point of critical growth by strengthening the organizations’ core systems, skills, resources, knowledge, operation, and management practices to achieve its mission and build long-term sustainability. Our Open Door Grant Program gives us the opportunity to partner with newer or less well-funded nonprofits, while our Flexible Funding Program is designed to help nonprofits experiencing recent changes in funding. The Women and Girls Fund supports nonprofits serving women and girls across the region.

While we continue to support nonprofit programs, we prioritize capacity-building initiatives that help organizations reach the next level of operational, programmatic, financial, or organizational maturity.

Capacity-Building Grant Program

This is our core grantmaking program.  It is designed to support strong nonprofits that are at a point of critical growth by strengthening the organizations’ core systems, skills, resources, knowledge, operation, and management practices to achieve its mission and build long-term sustainability. It is part of our ongoing goal to deepen our partnerships with nonprofits organizations by matching substantial funding with other critical support to achieve greater outcomes.

Women and Girls Fund Grant Program

This program supports nonprofit organizations serving women and girls across Cape Cod. While there is much we can work on together, we determined that our first grant cycles would focus on helping to break the cycle of poverty by increasing economic opportunity and self-sufficiency for women through trainings and educational programs and break down barriers for girls by providing new, expanded, or more accessible educational, out-of-school programs, and mentorship opportunities. Open Door Grant Program

This program is designed for small- to mid-size organizations.  It gives newer or less well-funded nonprofits the opportunity to access funding through the Foundation and our team the opportunity to learn more about their work.  Grants range from $5,000-$10,000 and provide program or general operating support. Flexible Funding Grant Program

This program was introduced in 2025 to help nonprofit organizations that are experiencing changes in funding due to the end of pandemic-era funding or changes in the current funding environment.  It is open to recipients who received grants from our Strategic Emergency Response Fund from 2020-2024 and those working in other areas we have available discretionary resources. 2024 Anniversary Grants

In celebration of our 35th Anniversary in 2024 and to demonstrate our commitment to The $3.5 Million Community Challenge, we awarded a total of $280,000 to local nonprofit organizations working in five areas of community life related to our fundraising efforts.  Each received a $35,000 grant, distributed over three years, for general operating support.
