Other Replicable Philanthropic Models

 Collaborating for Good.

Community Foundations, like The Cape Cod Foundation, are built around the concept of collective giving: pooling our resources to expand our individual and collective impact. Because there are many ways to work and give together, the Foundation promotes many philanthropic models.

In 2022, we partnered with Southworth Development, owners of Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee, on a member-driven philanthropic initiative designed to connect its members to the community. This successful partnership and philanthropic model can be adopted and adapted by other groups who want to engage with the Foundation to learn more about community needs and resources and increase impact through collective giving. If you would like to discuss replicating this philanthropic model in a club, organization, or local business, please contact us.

The Willowbend Partnership

The members of Willowbend Country Club wanted to learn more about community needs and resources and increase impact through collective giving.  The Foundation provided the framework for Willowbend Gives, which includes an overview of community needs, challenges, resources, and current work across the nonprofit sector, along with presentations by nonprofit organizations.

Each year, the members select the nonprofit recipients and pool their donations, which are matched by Willowbend (via the Deitch Family).   To date, this initiative has awarded $297,300 to 13 local organizations.  These organizations work across all areas of community life and have supported environmental conservation, preservation and restoration efforts; food security for Cape residents and families; educational, recreational and mentorship programs for young people; health and human services initiatives, and programs for our most vulnerable populations, including those facing cancer, living with disabilities, or recovering from a substance use disorder.
