Mary Beth Burwood, Director of Education and Workforce Development

Mary Beth joined The Cape Cod Foundation as its Scholarship Officer in 2020 and was appointed Education Program Officer in September 2023. She was promoted to Senior Program Officer, Education in 2024 and Director of Education and Workforce Development in 2025. She is responsible for developing and leading implementation of strategy related to the Foundation’s and its partners’ investments in education and workforce development through scholarships, grants, and community initiatives. She serves as a strategic thought-leader and key liaison to donors, volunteers, and community partners to help advance and amplify educational opportunities for residents of Cape Cod.

Mary Beth grew up in Chelmsford, MA, and spent many summer days on Cape Cod. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from UMass Lowell. She has worked for several nonprofit organizations, focusing on education, volunteer programs, and fundraising initiatives. Prior to joining the team, she served as the Assistant Director of Regional Programs in the Office of Alumni and Donor Relations Office at UMass Lowell.

She currently lives in Sandwich with her husband, two children, and dog. Outside of work, she enjoys running, biking, and spending time outdoors.
