The Cape Cod Foundation Announces Five New Scholarships for 2015 Community Foundation to Award Scholarships From More Than 65 Funds

The Cape Cod Foundation is currently accepting applications for its 2015 scholarship cycle.  This year, five new scholarships have been added to the funds available for students who will be pursuing post-secondary education. That brings the number of active scholarships administered by the Foundation to 67.

New funds for 2015 include:

Gateway Isles Scholarship: For graduating high school seniors, continuing college students or returning adult students who are full-time residents of the Town of Yarmouth to attend a 2 or 4 year accredited undergraduate college or university full or part-time. Students must demonstrate service to the community, a commitment to their education, and be a leader amongst their peers.

Live for Lou Swimmers Scholarship: For graduating high school seniors from Nauset Regional High School to pursue swimming on a college/university team, preference for Wellfleet residents.

Opera New England of Cape Cod Scholarship: For graduating high school seniors who are residents of Cape Cod or the Islands who have been accepted at an accredited college, university, or conservatory and who are pursuing a career in music, preferably for voice.

David Fisk Scudder Scholarship: For a graduating high school senior or continuing college student from Cape Cod with a preference given to students graduating from Barnstable High School who attend a New England Small College (NESCAC) with preference given to students enrolling at Colby College.

Shostak Scholarship: For a graduating high school senior from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School who plans to major in arts at an accredited college or university and for a graduating high school senior from Cape Cod Regional Technical High School to major in early childhood education at an accredited college or university.

The scholarship application process is completely online, and most of the scholarships available through the Foundation will have a deadline of midnight on April 1.  Interested applicants are encouraged to carefully review the Scholarship Information Booklet prior to beginning the online application process, so that they know the criteria, deadlines, and application requirements for each scholarship.  This booklet, as well as links to the various online applications, can be found at www.capecodfoundation.org.

Last year, The Cape Cod Foundation awarded $370,000 in scholarships to 110 students from Cape Cod and the Islands.  The Foundation also administers scholarships for its supporting organization, the Cape Cod Association, one of the oldest and largest independent scholarship funds in New England, which last year distributed $450,000 to nearly 300 local students.  Criteria and application requirements for Cape Cod Association scholarships can be found at www.capecodassoc.org.  Past recipients of the Cape Cod Association scholarship must reapply by midnight on March 15, 2015. New applicants and those who have not previously received this scholarship must apply by midnight on April 1, 2015.
