The Cape Cod Foundation Distributes $145,000 To Support Food Pantries and Food Delivery Programs Across Cape Cod

SOUTH YARMOUTH –The Cape Cod Foundation deployed its sixth round of COVID-19 related grants, providing a total of $145,000 in funding to six nonprofit organizations operating food pantries and food delivery programs across Cape Cod.

To date, the Foundation has distributed $925,000 in grants from its Strategic Emergency Response Fund to 41 nonprofit organizations serving the region.

The nonprofits the Foundation selected to receive funding from the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund this round are: YMCA Cape Cod; Cape Kid Meals; Duffy Health Center; Food4Kids; Falmouth Service Center; and the Family Pantry of Cape Cod.

“These organizations are tackling food insecurity on several fronts and reaching diverse populations in need,” said Kristin O’Malley, President and CEO of The Cape Cod Foundation. “In addition to supporting onsite and mobile pantries Cape-wide, some organizations are providing meals for children attending camps and weekend food bags for families over the summer. Others are working with local Councils on Aging to ensure food delivery to elders in need or helping unsheltered homeless members of the community.”

To date, The Cape Cod Foundation has raised $1.27 million for its Strategic Emergency Response Fund from discretionary resources, individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations. More grants to address the immediate and long-term needs of the community due to the pandemic are planned.

The Foundation has received $635,000 from the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund to strategically deploy on Cape Cod. The Relief Fund supports those across the state most impacted by the COVID-19 health crisis, focusing on essential frontline workers and vulnerable populations including the homeless, immigrant populations, people with disabilities and those facing food insecurity. The Fund works in concert with regional community foundations and nonprofit leaders who partner with local leaders to understand the response and relief landscape, strategically filling in where gaps are pronounced.
