The Fund for Sandwich Awards $5,000 in Grants to Nonprofits Serving the Community
SOUTH YARMOUTH—The Fund for Sandwich of The Cape Cod Foundation recently awarded $5,000 in grants to six organizations serving the Sandwich community.
“This is our fourth annual grant awards,” said Dr. Madeleine Wing Adler, a member of the Fund’s Advisory Committee. “While we have been focused on raising funds for pandemic relief this year, we feel it’s also important to continue to support community programming. Through the generosity of our donors, we are able to help six highly effective organizations serving local residents during this year’s regular grant cycle.”
This year’s recipients are:
Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Support Center, $1,000
To support free services to Sandwich residents living with dementia
Child and Family Services, $1,000
To support families within the Sandwich community
Sandwich Council on Aging, $1,000
To support its Transitional Assistance Fund
Sandwich Public Schools, $500
To support its Lifeguard Training Program
The Community Health Center of Cape Cod, $1,000
To expand and increase access to care for Sandwich residents
WE CAN, $500
To support work and financial empowerment services for clients and volunteer recruitment and outreach in Sandwich.
Last Spring, The Fund for Sandwich also created a COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund to help residents impacted by the pandemic. It raised and distributed over $13,000 to local nonprofits to help meet the increased demand for food, extend services to seniors in need, and provide emergency financial assistance to residents for rent, mortgage payments, and other basic needs.
The Fund’s Advisory Committee will continue to seek private donations to support the wide range of nonprofit organizations serving the Sandwich community and will conduct a fifth grantmaking process in 2021 to support additional organizations.
