The Fund for Sandwich Now Accepting Grant Proposals from Nonprofit Organizations Serving the Town

The Fund for Sandwich of The Cape Cod Foundation is now accepting grant proposals from nonprofit organizations serving residents of Sandwich. The grant application process is entirely online at capecodfoundation.org. Proposals must be submitted by noon on Friday, October 4, 2019.

This year, the fund will award five $750 grants. The recipients will be announced at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, at a presentation at the Sand Hill School Community Center,16 Dewey Avenue, Sandwich.

This is the third year of grantmaking for The Fund for Sandwich; it has distributed $5,000 in grants to date. Last year’s recipients were: Friends of the Sandwich Town Archives; Sandwich Arts Alliance; Sandwich Council on Aging; Sandwich Elementary PTA; and Special Olympics of Massachusetts.

The grants supported a program to digitize the town’s collections, arts programs for elementary school children and underserved adults, homemaking and respite services for senior citizens, and new uniforms for the Cape Cod Waves Special Olympics team.

“We will continue to accept a broad range of proposals this year,” said Dr. Madeleine Wing Adler, member of the Advisory Committee. “The nonprofits we have supported so far have impacted different areas of our community in very meaningful ways.”

This includes projects and programs within the fields of health and human services, education, the environment, youth and elder services, community development, and the arts.

A group of residents established The Fund for Sandwich at the Foundation in 2015 to build a permanent endowment for the town through private donations and to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that serve the community.

The Fund for Sandwich is one of three town funds affiliated with The Cape Cod Foundation. During the last grant cycles, The Falmouth Fund distributed nearly $100,000 in grants, while The Chatham Fund awarded $30,000 in grants to nonprofits serving the town.
