Dan always knew what he wanted to do: fly. Literally. He’s a Pilot for JetBlue Airways. The ambitious aviator received his first pilot certificate in high school and worked for many years on the Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch to help pay for flying lessons. With the help of a scholarship from The Cape Cod Foundation, he attended Bridgewater State University, where he finished his advanced pilot certification and earned a degree.

“Receiving a scholarship was a total game-changer for me. It provided the financial support I needed to pursue my collegiate aviation education and training without the burden of excessive student loans. This allowed me to gain valuable flight experience, earn the necessary certifications to become an airline pilot, and get my bachelor’s degree. I am truly grateful for the support it provided.”

When called to volunteer with the Scholarship Committee, he immediately said yes. “I love knowing that these scholarships will help other students faced with the high cost of an education feel comfortable going off to college and becoming successful in their lives and future careers.”

Since Dan had high career aspirations at a young age, he says “learning about the applicants’ early successes and what motivated them to pursue their dreams was definitely a highlight of the Program.”
