    Press Releases

    BEST PRACTICES

    • Short releases are more likely to be published. Focus on essential facts in the first paragraph, include a short description of the program or capacity-building project the funding supports, and convey its potential impact in the community.
    • Include a short quote from the leader of your nonprofit organization which advances the story.
    • Paste your press release into the body of the email
    • In the subject line, type: “Press Release” followed by a 4-5-word description
    • Attach a photograph. Include a cutline in your release, identifying everyone in the photo and summarizing the activity pictured.
    • Important Photo Permissions: You must have written permission from everyone pictured and the photographer for acceptance by most news outlets.
    • If your organization includes a boilerplate in releases, please add The Cape Cod Foundation’s boilerplate underneath it.
