The Chatham Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation Awards $41,500 in Grants to Nonprofit Organizations Serving Community

SOUTH YARMOUTH – The Chatham Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation recently awarded $41,500 in grants to seven nonprofit organizations serving the community. The grants support local food pantries and food delivery programs, services for the Alzheimer’s/Dementia community, the development of two new affordable homes, and direct financial support for Chatham residents in need to cover rent, utilities, medical bills, prescriptions, child-care expenses, and other essentials.

The 2023 recipients are:

Alzheimer’s Family Support Center, $4,000
To support free, highly accessible services for Chatham’s Alzheimer’s/Dementia Community
at the Chatham Council on Aging, including support groups, care planning, memory screenings, and supportive counseling.

Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, $2,500
To support the implementation of its “Meals on Wheels” program for residents of Chatham.

Family Pantry of Cape Cod, $5,000
To support the Pantry’s services to Chatham families in need, including access to food and clothing, the “Food to Encourage” program, and the mobile pantry.

Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod, $5,000
To support the development of two, new affordable homes and accompanying programming in the town of Chatham.

Homeless Prevention Council, $5,000
To support the case management program for Chatham residents, which provides personalized and long-term support for individuals and families, empowering them to attain financial stability, stay in their homes, or find stable and affordable housing.

Lower Cape Outreach Council, $5,000
To support the organization’s program which provides direct financial assistance to Chatham residents in need of resources for rent, utilities, transportation, medical bills, prescriptions, child-care expenses and other essentials.

Monomoy Community Services, $15,000
To support the “Community Meals Project,” which gives Chatham residents access to healthy meals provided by participating, local restaurants.

Since it was established in 2013, The Chatham Fund has awarded $389,345 in grants.

“This included a $25,000 emergency grant to Monomoy Community Services at the onset of the pandemic in 2020, followed by an unprecedented $100,000 grant to the Chatham Coronavirus Impact Fund which worked through Monomoy Community Services, Lower Cape Outreach Council, and other agencies to identify and help individuals and families in dire need,” said Hank Holden, Chair and one of the Founders of The Chatham Fund.

He added, “By building a permanent endowment for the town through private donations, we’ve been able to support all areas of community life for over a decade and increase our impact in the community during the last few years of extreme need.”
