What We Invest In: Building Flexible Resources
Gertrude Stein once said, “Money is always there, but the pockets change.” We agree about the pockets. The Foundation has a variety of discretionary funds, pockets of resources, for annual grantmaking. But to ensure “money is always here,” we actively fundraise to build additional, flexible resources to meet community needs and fund new initiatives. The $3.5 Million Community Challenge and The Women and Girls Funds Challenge are recent initiatives. The Strategic Emergency Response Fund we established during the pandemic raised millions for immediate support and rebuilding efforts. And the funds from our Vision 2020 campaign still generate resources to invest back into the community each year.

The $3.5 Million Community Challenge—
Met and Exceeded
In 2024, we launched our biggest challenge ever to raise additional funds to support areas where the needs are great but our resources are not. With these resources, we can make three to five additional, multi-year, broadscale investments in the community each year. As of June 1, 2025, we had raised $3,530,558, exceeding our goal. While the Challenge is over, our work continues. LEARN MORE/SUPPORT
The Women and Girls Fund
In 2022, we established The Women and Girls Fund to build resources to support women and girls on Cape Cod. Since then, we have awarded more than $100,000 in grants to nonprofits serving women and girls and raised $540,000 toward our $1 million fundraising goal.

The Strategic Emergency Response Fund
We established this fund in March 2020 at the onset of the pandemic with $100,000 in discretionary money. Through the generosity of private foundations, corporate partners, and individual donors, we raised over $5.6 million to help nonprofit organizations continue critical programs, pivot to meet emerging needs, and build capacity to reach the next level of operational, programmatic, financial, or organizational maturity for long-term stability and lasting change. Vision 2020
The Foundation launched this initative in 2017 to strategically impact two areas: Nonprofit Capacity Building and Youth Development. We directed a substantial unrestricted endowment gift we received to this initiative and asked several community influencers to join a local collaborative to raise $1 million. Over the years, these resources have supported many programs and initiatives across the region. LEARN MORE
Together, we have invested more than $106 million in grants and scholarships in the Cape Cod Community. For good.
