What We Invest In: Shared Resources
The Foundation supports initiatives that bring critical programming, data, and educational opportunities to the nonprofit sector and the community at large. We have been a long-time supporter of Philanthropy Partners of the Cape and Islands (PPCI), founded in 1991. Every year, its signature event, Philanthropy Day on Cape Cod, welcomes over 400 attendees for a day of learning, networking, and celebration. PPCI also offers other educational and networking events throughout the year.
Our community events and forums also demonstrate our commitment to bring educational events to the community.
“Measuring Impact” Community Event: 2024
As part of our 35th Anniversary celebration, we hosted “Measuring Impact,” an in-person event for donors, funders, and advisors invested in strengthening Cape Cod. Our goal for this and other events is to increase our individual and collective impact across the region through shared knowledge and collaboration.
The panel of experts included:
- Dianne Chipps Bailey, Managing Director and National Philanthropic Strategy Executive, Bank of America
- Don Matteson, Chief Program Officer, Peter & Elizabeth Tower Foundation
- Shanna Shulman, Director of Health and Medical Research, Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation
Connecting Cape Cod:
A 2023 Community Report
In 2023, we released “Connecting Cape Cod.” The report details the Foundation’s strategies, our initiatives to build flexible resources, our partnerships and leadership role in the community, and our efforts to strengthen the nonprofit sector through grants and other valuable resources.
The reports includes emerging trends, promising practices, and hard and anecdotal community data to inform and empower community members’ individual Strategic Philanthropic Plans and outlines ways to engage with the Foundation to increase community impact.
Our goal is to bring change-agents from all sectors of community life together to look at challenges holistically, problem-solve collectively, allocate resources strategically, and drive systemic change. READ REPORT
Virtual Community Forums: 2021-2022
In 2021, The Cape Cod Foundation hosted Connecting Cape Cod, a series of virtual community forums to share information about the region’s current needs, resources, and opportunities for community engagement with a larger audience. Local experts convened to discuss food security and food access, housing and homelessness, mental and behavioral health, and supporting youth across Cape Cod.
In 2022, we hosted another virtual community forum to share information about the challenges facing women and girls in our
community and to announce the establishment of The Women and Girls Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation.
About 250 people attended each session or watched the recording. The diverse audience included local funders, community leaders, nonprofit representatives, and community members seeking information and ways to engage. The forums are available, along with other resource material below. We will continue to use the community forum model to advance philanthropy on Cape Cod.
