After convening an online community forum with industry experts and conducting extensive community-based research, The Cape Cod Foundation established The Women and Girls Fund in 2022 to deepen our investment in women and girls on Cape Cod by building a community of support.  Learn more about our Community Data and Findings here.

How We Will Impact Change
Like other Foundation initiatives, we:

• actively fundraise and use the power of collective giving to support and enhance work focused on system change
• advocate for policy change
• leverage and expand impact through successful collaborations and partnerships
• gather and share information and resources
• incorporate a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens into all strategies

Our Goal
We launched the Women and Girls Fund Challenge in 2022 to build additional resources for women and girls. Our goal is to raise $1 million (or more!) by the end of 2027.  An endowment of this size will enable us to make $50,000 in grants annually and create a resource that will support the changing needs of women and girls in the community for years to come. Our Fundraising
As of August 2026, we have raised $635,322, meeting 63% of our goal. Support has come from individuals, private foundations, and corporate partners. 

Our Grantmaking
Since the fund’s inception, we have distributed $154,000 in grants to 14 nonprofit organizations serving women and girls.  We expect to announce our 2026 grantmaking in late fall.  For more information about our Annual Grant Cycle, click here. 

Beyond the Grant
In 2026, we partnered with RESILIA, the leading all-in-one nonprofit capacity-building platform for foundations, and invited recent grantees, including those who received grants from The Women and Girls Fund, to participate in the pilot program. Through Resilia, local nonprofit organizations receive unlimited access to a full suite of online services, including access to courses, personalized coaching, and peer networks, at no cost.
