Spring 2023: FOUNDATION DEPLOYS NEXT WAVE OF STATE FUNDING FOR PANDEMIC RELIEF,
PREPARES FOR NEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES FOR NONPROFIT.

The Cape Cod Foundation allocated the next wave of funding totaling $1,246,509 from two Commonwealth of Massachusetts programs to support qualifying nonprofit organizations providing programs and services to vulnerable Cape Cod populations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding supports programs that address food security and to provide direct financial support for basic human needs, including childcare, housing/shelter, transportation, technology for remote work/school, food security, utilities, and healthcare to residents in need through grants to nonprofit organizations. Winter 2023: FOUNDATION AWARDS $370,486 IN GRANTS TO 2 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
The Cape Cod Foundation has allocated a total of $370,486 of funding received from a Community Development Block Grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through its Department of Housing and Community Development to support food access and security across Cape Cod.  Funding was awarded to two nonprofits who meet the eligibility requirements: Health Imperatives and YMCA Cape Cod. The funding will enable the sustainability, creation, and expansion of programs and services that respond to the increased demand for food assistance because of the pandemic.

September 28, 2022: FOUNDATION AWARDS $321,180 IN GRANTS TO 4 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
The Cape Cod Foundation has allocated a total of $321,180 of funding received from a Community Development Block Grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through its Department of Housing and Community Development to support food access and security across Cape Cod.  Funding was awarded to four nonprofits who meet the eligibility requirements: Belonging to Each Other; Cape and Islands Veteran Outreach Center and Duffy Health Center, and Lower Cape Outreach Council. The funding will enable the sustainability, creation, and expansion of programs and services that respond to the increased demand for food assistance because of the pandemic.

July 12, 2022: FOUNDATION RECIEVES $1.3M TO ADDRESS FOOD SECURITY AND AWARDS $450,289 IN GRANTS TO 4 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
The Cape Cod Foundation received a $1,362,895 Community Development Block Grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through its Department of Housing and Community Development to support food access and security across Cape Cod. The Foundation has allocated a total of $450,289 to four nonprofits who meet the eligibility requirements: Cape Kid Meals, Family Pantry of Cape Cod, South Shore Community Action Council, and Sustainable Cape. The funding will enable the sustainability, creation, and expansion of programs and services that respond to the increased demand for food assistance because of the pandemic.

June 27, 2022: FOUNDATION AWARDS $152,592 IN GRANTS TO 8 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
The Cape Cod Foundation awards $152,592 from The Cape Cod Foundation Strategic Emergency Response Fund to eight local nonprofit organizations for participation in the Targeted Capacity Building Grant Program.  The grants support grantees to expand and reimagine their capacity to meet heightened organizational and community needs resulting from the impact of the pandemic.  The program also incorporates a peer-learning component to strengthen the collective impact of grantees. Grant projects include staff and site expansion, technology enhancements, new educational programming, and development initiatives.  PRESS RELEASE

March 18, 2022: FOUNDATION AWARDS $417,777 IN GRANTS TO 10 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
The Cape Cod Foundation awards a total of $ 417,777 made possible from a third wave of funding from the MA Executive Office of Housing and Community Development Community Foundation COVID19 Relief to efficiently and rapidly provide immediate relief to Cape Cod households who are experiencing severe economic hardships due to COVID-19, with particular emphasis on vulnerable populations who have limited or no English proficiency and access to other sources of economic support. December 17, 2022: FOUNDATION AWARDS $120,000 IN GRANTS TO 5 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
The Cape Cod Foundation awards $120,000 from its Strategic Emergency Respond Fund to three local nonprofit organizations for participation in the Comprehensive Capacity Building Pilot Grant Program.  Each nonprofit will receive $10,000 for immediate general operating support and $30,000 for capacity building project implementation over the course of the innovative two-year program.  This program is designed to help them assess their capacity building needs, and then plan and implement a pivotal project to address those needs, while participating in peer learning programming along the way. June 18, 2021: FOUNDATION AWARDS $117,680 IN GRANTS TO 5 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
The Cape Cod Foundation awards $117,680 from its Strategic Emergency Response Fund to five local nonprofit organizations for participation in the Targeted Capacity Building Grant Program.  The grants support grantees to expand and reimagine their capacity to meet heightened organizational and community needs resulting from the impact of the pandemic.  The program also incorporates a peer-learning component to strengthen the collective impact of grantees. JUNE 1, 2021: COMMUNITY CHALLENGE EXCEEDS GOAL!
The Cape Cod Foundation’s “Respond, Rebuild & Reimagine” Community Challenge raised $753,000 ($3,000 Above Goal) to support pandemic relief and nonprofit capacity building initiatives.

MAY 28, 2021: FOUNDATION AWARDS $411,500 TO 22 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.
The Cape Cod Foundation awarded an additional $411,500 in grants from its Strategic Emergency Response Fund to support 22 nonprofit organizations providing critical programs and services to residents across Cape Cod. PRESS RELEASE 

MAY 18, 2021: COMMUNITY CHALLENGE RAISES $1,357,004–15 DAYS REMAINING TO MEET $1.5 MILLION GOAL.
The Cape Cod Foundation’s “Respond, Rebuild & Reimagine” Community has raised $1,357,004 since December 2020. The goal is to generate an addition $1.5 million for pandemic relief and nonprofit capacity building initiatives by May 31, 2021.  

MARCH 15, 2021: FOUNDATION AWARDS $650,000 IN GRANTS TO 23 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.
The Cape Cod Foundation awarded an additional $650,000 from its Strategic Emergency Response Fund to support 23 nonprofit organizations providing critical programs and services to residents across Cape Cod. The Foundation continues to build resources for the community in two ways: actively fundraising with local partners and individual donors who are deeply invested in the welfare of Cape Cod; and applying for grants available to community foundations throughout the Commonwealth in order to bring additional resources to Cape Cod it would not have otherwise. The Foundation recently received two Community Foundation Grants from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development totaling $671,322. FEBRUARY 25, 2021: FOUNDATION AWARDS $450,000 IN GRANTS TO 12 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
The Cape Cod Foundation awarded $450,000 in grants from its Strategic Emergency Response Fund to twelve local nonprofit organizations providing immediate relief and support to Cape Cod households experiencing severe economic hardship due to the pandemic with particular emphasis on vulnerable populations with limited or no English proficiency and access to sources of economic relief. The Foundation applied for this funding from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development’s Community Foundations Grant Program for COVID-19 Relief in order to bring additional resources to Cape Cod. The following organizations received grants: Cape Cod Children’s Place; Catholic Social Services of Fall River, Inc; Cape Cod Times Needy Fund; Fishing Partnership Support Services; Harwich Ecumenical Council for The Homeless; Health Imperatives; Homeless Prevention Council of Lower Cape Cod; Housing Assistance Corporation – HAC; Independence House, Inc. Hyannis, MA; Kennedy-Donovan Center (KDC); Lower Cape Outreach Council; and Monomoy Community Services.

FEBRUARY 23, 2021: FOUNDATION AWARDS $210,000 IN GRANTS TO 10 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
The Cape Cod Foundation awarded $210,000 from its Strategic Emergency Response Fund to ten local nonprofit organizations responding to the increased need of community members impacted by the pandemic. The grants support nonprofits administering food pantries and food programs and those providing mental health services and other healthcare needs to residents across Cape Cod. The grant recipients are: Cape Cod Council of Churches; Family Table Collaborative; Cape Kid Meals; Cape Cod Military Support Foundation Inc; Community Development Partnership; Community Health Center of Cape Cod; Duffy Health Center; Harbor Health Services, Inc.; Outer Cape Health Services; and The Family Pantry of Cape Cod.

JANUARY 8, 2021: COMMUNITY CHALLENGE HAS RAISED $980,814
Since December 2020, we have raised $980,814 in donations for our “Respond, Rebuild & Reimagine” Community Challenge to generate an additional $1.5 million for pandemic relief and nonprofit capacity-building initiatives. We’re $519,816 away from achieving our goal! 

JANUARY 6, 2021: EASTERN BANK CHARITABLE FOUNDATION DONATES $25,000 TO COMMUNITY CHALLENGE
The Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation supported the Foundation’s “Respond, Rebuild & Reimagine” Community Challenge with a $25,000 gift to the Strategic Emergency Response Fund.

DECEMBER 22, 2020: CHALLENGE RECEIVED $7,200 IN NEW DONATIONS
As of December 22, the Foundation has raised an additional $962,200 for its Strategic Emergency Response Fund. If successful, the “Respond, Rebuild & Reimagine” community challenge will generate an additional $1.5 million for immediate and ongoing pandemic relief on Cape Cod.

Leo Cakounes interviewed Kristin O’Malley, President and CEO of The Cape Cod Foundation, on Spectrum, a weekly segment on WXTK 95 news radio. The conversation focused on the Foundation’s ongoing work and civic leadership initiatives in the community and our new “Respond, Rebuild and Reimagine” Community Challenging to raise an additional $1.5 million for the Foundation’s STRATEGIC EMERGENCY RESPONSE FUND to provide relief from the pandemic across the region. Foundation President and CEO Kristin O’Malley talked with Chris Boyd on “Something More with Chris Boyd” about our new “Respond, Rebuild & Reimagine” Community Challenge to raise funds for immediate and ongoing pandemic relief across Cape Cod and to support non-profit capacity-building initiatives. Cape Cod’s Financial Talk Show airs Saturdays at 3 pm on WXTK 95.1 FM. LISTEN

DECEMBER 2020: FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES COMMUNITY CHALLENGE
Upon raising an additional $750,000 for its Strategic Emergency Response Fund, the Foundation issues a matching challenge to the community. If successful, the new “Respond, Rebuild & Reimagine” community challenge will generate an additional $1.5 million for immediate and ongoing pandemic relief on Cape Cod. PRESS RELEASE

NOVEMBER 2020: THANKSGIVING MEALS
The Foundation, in partnership with the Cape and Islands United Way and Rockland Trust, awarded a $7,500 grant to Cape Cod Family Table Collaborative to prepare homemade Thanksgiving meals for 300 families in the Barnstable and Sandwich areas. 

The Foundation also awarded a grant to Community Action Committee of Cape Cod & Islands to purchase gift cards from supermarkets to distribute to residents in need.

SEPTEMBER 2020: SUSTAINABLE CAPE GRANT
The Foundation awarded a grant to Sustainable Cape-Center for Agricultural Preservation and Education to address food insecurity and support access to local produce.

JULY 2020: FINAL MASSACHUSETTS COVID-19 RELIEF FUND GRANT $126,000
The Foundation selected eight local nonprofit organizations, focused on providing food and financial assistance to residents across Cape Cod, to receive a total of $126,000 from the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund. PRESS RELEASE

JULY 2020: THE CAPE COD FOUNDATION SURPASSES $1M IN GRANTS TO SUPPORT COVID-19 RELIEF
The Foundation continues to focus on helping vulnerable populations across the Cape by deploying an additional $115,000 to three nonprofits focused on providing food, housing, and emergency assistance to residents impacted by the pandemic. This brings the Foundation’s total giving from its Strategic Emergency Response Fund to support COVID-19 relief to $1.04 million. The grants, which have been made over the last 12 weeks, have supported 41 local nonprofit organizations.  PRESS RELEASE

JULY 2020: MASSACHUSETTS COVID-19 RELIEF FUND GRANT $145,000
Ten nonprofits receive a total of $145,000 to support on site food pantries, mobile pantries, and summer food programs for children and families in need. PRESS RELEASE

JUNE 2020: TEN LOCAL NONPROFITS RECEIVE A TOTAL OF $200,000 IN RELIEF FUNDING
New round of grants supports food programs, personal protection equipment and hazard pay for front line workers, technical assistance for small businesses working to re-open and the continuation of programs for children and vulnerable populations. PRESS RELEASE

JUNE 2020: FOUNDATION DEPLOYS 3RD ROUND FROM MASSACHUSETTS COVID-19 RELIEF FUND, DISTRIBUTES $130,000
The Foundation deployed an additional $130,000 in grants with funds from the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund. We selected ten nonprofit organizations that provide critical services to Cape Cod residents impacted by the pandemic. PRESS RELEASE

MAY 2020: FOUNDATION MATCHES SECOND GRANT FROM MASSACHUSETTS COVID-19 RELIEF FUND, DISTRIBUTES $240,000
The Foundation matched a second grant from the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund for its Strategic Emergency Response Fund, awarding a total of $240,000 to six nonprofits serving vulnerable members of the Cape community. PRESS RELEASE

APRIL 2020: FIRST ROUND OF GRANTS $110,000
The Foundation’s first round of grants from the Strategic Emergency Response Fund focuses on nonprofits that are addressing immediate and ongoing human needs, including food, healthcare, and childcare services for essential workers. PRESS RELEASE

MARCH 2020: $10,000 FOR IMMEDIATE RELIEF
The Cape Cod Foundation invested $5,000 in the Cape Cod and Islands Major Crisis Relief Fund, a program of the Cape Cod Times Needy Fund, and $5,000 in Cape and Islands United Way to provide direct support to Cape Cod and Island residents and nonprofit organizations whose clients are disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus and the economic consequences of this outbreak.

MARCH 2020: FOUNDATION CREATES STRATEGIC EMERGENCY RESPONSE FUND
The Cape Cod Foundation allocated $100,000 in discretionary money to seed The Cape Cod Foundation Strategic Emergency Response Fund which will provide immediate and long-term funding to support the continued operation of vital Cape Cod nonprofit organizations as they address the evolving impacts of COVID-19 on the health, economy, and vitality of our community. The Cape & Islands Major Crisis Relief Fund (MCRF) provides financial relief in the wake of a disaster. Established in 2016 by the Cape Cod Times Needy Fund, MCRF provides Cape Cod and Islands residents immediate and ongoing support for needs unmet by traditional forms of public and private disaster aid, in this case, caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Cape and Islands United Way Community Response Fund will go directly to local organizations working with communities who are disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus and the economic consequences of this outbreak.

DIRECT SUPPORT TO NONPROFITS: We also encourage you to give directly to your favorite nonprofit organizations during this difficult time and to strongly consider general, unrestricted support.
