Postsecondary Success Series

As part of The Cape Cod Foundation’s 35th Anniversary celebration, we launched a Postsecondary Success Series to provide support for local students beyond scholarship dollars by connecting them with expert resources on important topics. Please feel free to share the links to these webinars with your networks to expand the resources available in our community. More webinars are planned.

Part 1: Understanding Your Financial Aid Award Letters

Presenter: Jodi Conway, Conway College Aid
Presented: April 11, 2024

Financial aid award letters are not standardized; some colleges provide a detailed breakdown of the award offer and your out-of-pocket costs, but often this crucial information can be obscure and confusing. This webinar helps demystify the process for graduating high school seniors, families, and support networks and provides the information necessary to accurately compare award letters and determine how and when to appeal merit and need based offers.

Part 2: Scholarship Displacement

Understanding Financial Aid & Avoiding Displacement

Presenter: Erika Orsulak, MPA
Co-Founder and Principal Consultant of Students First Consulting

Scholarship displacement is when financial aid packages are reduced based on private scholarships. Each institution has its own policy around it. This session reviews what scholarship displacement is, how to know if you are experiencing it, and ways to address it so you can maximize your financial aid and private scholarship dollars.

Part 3: Mindfulness for College Life

Building Resilience, Balance, and Calm

Presenter: Forest Malatesta, Lead Facilitaor, Calmer Choice

This webinar explains how mindfulness can support periods of transition, both in life and seasonally, help students balance academic and other demands, and promote general stress/anxiety management.

Part 4: FAFSA Walkthrough

In 2025, we partnered with uAspire to produce a webinar explaining the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process and its impact. Because the information for this video is no longer current, it is not available at this time. Additional updates coming soon.
