Through a planned gift to The Cape Cod Foundation, you may be able to make a more substantial gift than previously imagined. The term “planned giving” describes the ways in which individuals make charitable gifts for the future. You can make a planned gift directly to The Cape Cod Foundation or an existing fund, or establish a new named fund.
You can make a provision in your will or living trust for a gift to the Foundation. This is perhaps the simplest form of planned giving and the vehicle most commonly used.
Charitable Gift Annuities
You can receive a lifetime income from a charitable gift annuity. Following your death, the unused portion of the gift remains with the Foundation as an endowed fund to support charitable purposes you have chosen.
Charitable Remainder Trust
You can transfer property to a trust that pays you or another beneficiary a fixed or variable income for a fixed amount of time. When the trust expires, the remainder is used to establish an endowed fund in the donor’s name with distributions directed as he or she has chosen.
Gift of an Individual Retirement Account (IRA)
Designating the Foundation as the beneficiary of an IRA is an excellent way to make a gift to charity using an asset that otherwise might be heavily taxed.
You can name the Foundation as the owner and beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy and receive a current income tax charitable deduction.
While these are the most common ways for individuals to make planned gifts, other forms of giving are available. The staff of the Foundation is creative and flexible in accommodating donor needs and is pleased to discuss planned giving options with you and/or your professional advisor. Please contact Kristin O’Malley, President and CEO, at email@example.com or 508-790-3040 if you would like additional information.
Together, we have invested more than $80 million in grants and scholarships in the Cape Cod Community. For good.
