FUND BACKGROUND
This fund was established in 1997 as a donor-advised fund—the perfect philanthropic vehicle for those who want to have an active role in their philanthropic plans by making grant recommendations. Seventeen years later, the fund advisors decided to convert it to a field-of-interest fund with The Cape Cod Foundation. As such, we continue to carry on the donors’ legacy by making grants in the areas of community life they specified.

FOUNDATION STRATEGY
We invest in initiatives that promote entrepreneurship and create training and educational opportunities for a diverse workforce. Since our current discretionary resources to support this area are not as strong, we have made fundraising a key priority for 2024.

RECENT GRANTMAKING
Love Live Local $30,000
Since 2012, Love Live Local (LLL) has worked to increase financial, social, and cultural capital for Cape Cod by encouraging people to spend their dollars on goods and services locally with small businesses. By leveraging multiple funds from the Foundation, we awarded LLL several grants in recent years to support various initiatives.

In 2021, LLL received $25,000 from our Targeted Capacity Building Grant Program to work with a consultant to perform revenue analysis and create a strategic development plan for the organization. The main goals were to build an active and engaged development committee and transition the organization’s operating tasks to staff to allow the CEO to focus on developing strategic programs, community connections, and collaborations that lead to sustainable growth. Under this program, the CEO developed two new programs to help local businesses reach their economic goals, which received Foundation support in subsequent years.

In 2023, we awarded Love Live Local a $5,000 grant to support The Boost Your Brand Workshop series. This series served 30 Cape artists, artisans, and makers who supplement or earn their annual income selling products and brands at community events and festivals. The highly successful series gave them an opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals and build a network of support.
