Melinda Hall

Mindy “washed ashore” on the Cape in 1979 for a summer student fellowship at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. She stayed on to earn her Ph. D. in the MIT/WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography and married fellow student Dr. Larry Pratt. After a 2-year postdoctoral position at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in the mid-80s, Mindy and Larry returned to Falmouth to pursue careers at WHOI. Though largely retired, both remain affiliated with the Oceanographic. Mindy has served two terms on the board of Oyster Pond Environmental Trust, including a 3-year term as its president. She has also volunteered weekly with Friends of Falmouth Dogs since 1995. Mindy and Larry regularly spend time in San Diego each spring, where they enjoy wine tasting, hiking in the desert, and swimming.
