Madeleine Wing Adler

Madeleine is a Senior Associate at the AASCU-Penson Center for Professional Development, a division of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, headquartered in Washington, DC. Her consulting focuses on leadership coaching as well as strategic planning and change in universities.

President of West Chester University, West Chester, Pennsylvania (1992-2008) Madeleine pioneered the “distributed leadership” approach to university administration in an institution with 13,000 students and a $200 million annual budget. Previously she was Vice President for Academic Affairs at Framingham State College (1986-1992) and a long-time faculty member and administrator at The City University of New York, including Queens College and the CUNY Central Office.

Madeleine holds a baccalaureate from Northwestern University and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
