Our Impact: Community Impact Grants

As part of our annual grantmaking, The Foundation awards three types of Community Impact grants.  Strategic Focus Grants support strategic initiatives and long-range organizational capacity building. Awards are $5,000 or more. General Grants are less than $5,000 and help nonprofits launch creative initiatives, address emerging opportunities, or fund small, one-time projects. In 2020, we launched Fast-Track grants to help nonprofits fund small, one-time projects under $2,000.

The Foundation awarded $48,269 in Strategic Focus Grants to six local nonprofit organizations to help them purchase and upgrade technology, increase critical personnel, facilitate mergers, support start-up costs for new programs, or provide funding to expand successful programs. Community Connections, $5,000

Twelve nonprofit organizations received a total of $32,500 in General Grants in 2019. The grants support mental health outreach for children and adults and classes for people caring for family members with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases. They also provide relief funds for those in critical need and medical respite and empowerment programs for homeless individuals.  Funding also supports arts experiences, Civic Education programs, and a lecture series about the environment and conservation, among other initiatives.
