The Cape Cod Association (CCA) is accepting applications for its 2021 scholarship program. Last year, the organization awarded $440,000 to 323 local students pursuing higher education. This year marks its 170th anniversary.

The Cape Cod Foundation announces three strategic hires to help advance its grantmaking and scholarship programs and civic leadership initiatives across the region through 2021 and beyond.

The Cape Cod Foundation reports a year of unprecedented challenges and growth in 2020. While its assets grew by more than $10 million, it also distributed more than $5.5 million in scholarships and grants to nonprofit organizations across Cape Cod.

The Sean M. Gannon Memorial Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation awarded its inaugural Police Academy Scholarship to Stephanie Connolly of Rehoboth. The memorial fund was created by Sgt. Gannon’s family to honor the Yarmouth Police Department K9 Officer who was killed in the line of duty on April 12, 2018. Its mission is to promote education, health, and leadership by encouraging service through action. The K9 Sgt. Gannon Self-Sponsor Scholarship covers tuition for a recruit to attend the Cape Cod Municipal Police Academy.

The Cape Cod Foundation has raised an additional $750,000 for its Strategic Emergency Response Fund and has just issued a matching challenge to the community. If successful, the new “Respond, Rebuild & Reimagine” community challenge will generate an additional $1.5 million for immediate and ongoing pandemic relief on Cape Cod.

The Cape Cod Foundation has joined a statewide coalition of community foundations designed to help stabilize, strengthen, and advance the social sector in communities across the Commonwealth.

The Cape Cod Young Professionals (CCYP) Giving Circle recently awarded a total of $3,000 in grants to three local nonprofits supporting the needs of young working adults in the community.

The Cape Cod Foundation recently awarded more than $637,000 in scholarships to 133 students from Cape Cod and the Islands who are beginning or continuing their higher education or pursuing certificate programs. They are preparing for careers in business administration, law, engineering, medicine, politics, social work, environmental sciences, education, technology, and the arts.

SOUTH YARMOUTH—The Cape Cod Foundation recently received a bequest totaling nearly $6.4 million from an anonymous donor who wanted to ensure there would be resources in perpetuity to support the community. This is the single largest bequest gift that The Cape Cod Foundation has received to date.
